Washington State Patrol and Kitsap Detectives Arrest Zosimo Jumanan Aguada for 2015 Felony Hit and Run Death of Chris Lukkasson

Bremerton – Washington State Patrol announced that 49-year-old Zosimo Jumanan Aguada is suspected of being the driver in a felony hit and run case that killed a 64-year-old Port Orchard woman in 2015 was arrested Thursday afternoon in a coordinated effort by Washington State Patrol (WSP) and Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) detectives.

Sixty-four-year-old Christopher “Chris” Lukkasson was killed on October 14, 2015, after being struck by a vehicle in the 4800 Block of Victory Drive Southwest in Port Orchard. Lukkasson sustained blunt force injuries to her head and torso and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. She succumbed to her injuries
the next day.

With cooperation from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) and Bremerton Police Department (BPD), the 49-year-old man was taken into custody at his Bremerton residence without incident. WSP Detective Krista Hedstrom was contacted by KCSO Thursday morning after deputies received a tip from a Kitsap County Jail inmate. The inmate stated he was a passenger in the van that struck Lukkasson and provided information that led investigators to the suspected driver and additional witnesses.

Detective Hedstrom, KCSO deputies, and BPD officers contacted the suspected driver at his downtown Bremerton address Thursday evening where he confessed to the incident. The man indicated the reason he left the scene was because he was scared, Detective Hedstrom said, but appeared relieved after speaking with investigators.

“To keep that secret that long finally caught up to him,” Hedstrom said.
He was booked in Kitsap County Jail for felony hit and run later that night where he is being held on a $500,000 bond. He is expected to appear in Kitsap County Superior Court 3 p.m. July 13, 2018.

Lukkasson’s family was notified of the arrest. The family provided no comment at this time. Detective Hedstrom stressed the cooperation of the KCSO and BPD was imperative to bringing closure to the case for the family.
“I told them from the beginning I wasn’t going to give up on them,” Detective Hedstrom said. “We were going to work this case until it was solved.”

Chris Lukkasson, 64, of Port Orchard, Washington joyfully entered the Kingdom of Heaven, last Thursday, October 15, 2015. Chris was a victim of a hit-and-run, while out enjoying a leisurely walk in her neighborhood.

Chris was born on May 21, 1951, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Joseph Collins and Jean Grey. She attended St. Pius X Catholic church and school, in Mountlake Terrace, Washington from Kindergarten through eighth grade. She graduated from West Bremerton High school in 1969. Chris married her high school sweetheart, Mark Lukkasson, the summer before their senior year on July 25, 1968. Chris loved to go camping, 4-wheelin, river rafting, and snow skiing with Mark. She also loved playing Pinochle, Aggravation and spending time with him. Chris enjoyed her life as a Homemaker for 47 years while married to Mark.

Throughout her life Chris enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, cooking, gardening, walking through beautiful fir trees and overhead blue expanses, viewing abundantly serene mountain escapes, graceful bald eagles and enthusiastic hummingbirds, in Western Washington. She truly loved nature.

Chris was preceded in death by her father and birth mother. She is survived by her husband Mark Lukkasson, children Jennifer Lukkasson Crider and Marcus Lukkasson, granddaughters Ali Lukkasson and Graci Crider, sister Jane Imbler and brothers Michael Collins, David Donley, Mike Grey and Mom Esther Lukkasson and sisters Arlene Morris and Connie Rouse.

Grammy immensely loved spending time with her granddaughters, taking them to movies, going to the local arcade, playing indoor Hide and Seek, playing games and having Barbie tea parties when they were younger. She loved watching them play soccer, basketball and volleyball and also enjoyed listening to their musical talents of piano and violin. Ali and Graci were truly special to Chris, as she wanted to spend every available moment with them.

Chris and her daughter Jennifer had a very special relationship. They enjoyed shopping, cooking, holiday crafts and arts, also just enjoying each other. Chris would call 43-year-old Jennifer and tell her to go to bed, when it was time. She was Jennifer’s number one fan when she participated in her first triathlon at the age of 40. Chris loved in depth discussions with Jennifer about Christianity.

There was also a very special relationship between Chris and her son Marcus. They loved having very intellectual discussions on all sorts of topics. They also loved watching FOOTBALL and talking about players and stats. She was a true # 12! She also looked forward to hearing about his golf game.

Chris was such a caring and kind person to all.
